STUDENT CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE

A. CODE OF DISCIPLINE

As basis for discipline, every student of the Emmaus College of Theology are expected to abide the following Code of Discipline:

  • At all times observe the laws of the land and the rules and regulations of ECT to foster peace and harmony in order to provide conducive environment for learning in the pursuit of academic and moral excellence.
  • Always act with fairness and respect bearing in mind the principles and ethical standards of ECT.
  • Always show courtesy and consideration and behave in manner according to the moral values set by the ECT.
  • Always wear prescribed uniform and school identification card (ID) when coming to school.

Following the Code of Discipline, the ECT prohibits the students of the following improper acts. Those actions are punishable by Stern Warning for the first offense, Reprimand for the second offense and number of days or months of Suspension for the third offense depending on the gravity of violation.

Grave offenses such as violation of laws/statues have the imposable penalty of DISMISSAL AND EXPULSION.

B. KINDS OF DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

  • Stern Warning- An oral warning given for commission first infraction at any light offense.
  • Reprimand- A written warning issued to an offending student
  • Suspension- is a temporary disallowance of the student from the entry into the campus and attendance classes within a specific period of time.
  • Dismissal- After an investigation, a student may be dropped from the school roll for having violated the rules and regulations of ECT without prejudice for the students to seek admission in another higher Educational institution.
  • Expulsion- An extreme form of administrative sanction which prohibits the students from seeking admission in any private and public Higher Educational Institution.

C. COLLEGE BOARD OF DISCIPLINE

The Board of Discipline is charged with the duty of hearing, investigating and rendering decision on grave disciplinary cases. The Board shall submit its recommendation to the office of the School Director for the final decision.

D. PROCEDURE FOR HEARING A CASE

  • Upon receipt of the permit of complain, the student is summoned to response to the Office of Student Affairs for preliminary investigation.
  • The head of Student Affairs schedules the hearing of the case.
  • During preliminary investigation, Student is advised to bring his/her parent or legal guardian and witnesses.
  • At the start of the formal hearing, the head of Student Affairs will present the case/offense of the student to the members of the Disciplinary Board.
  • Student is asked to relate or give his/her testimonies. He/she is investigated in front of their parents or legal guardian.
  • Other evidences or witnesses from the students side are presented to the Board.
  • The Board of Discipline Committee shall decide the case based on substantial guidance.
  • The decision shall be in writing and duly signed by the majority of its members . It shall include the findings of facts and the specific regulation on which the decision is based.
  • Based on the offense committed by the students, the Board of Discipline will submit its findings and recommendations to the School Director for approval.
  • Open the approval of the School Director. The student is notified of the decision through formal letter.
  • All proceeding during the investigation shall be properly documented by the school guidance counselors and kept in the confidential files of the office.
