A.GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

1. Vision

The Guidance and Counseling Office as the center for self-discovery and self-realization, developing the students’ talents and inclinations, nurture their vocation as leaders in the Church and in the society grounded in Catholic Faith.

2. Mission

To guide and enable the student to realize their potential to the fullest and to recognize their dignity and worth. Helping them to become closer to people of different cultures and religions of all levels of society with a special attention to the poor and those who have lost their faith in God, in themselves and others.

1. Guidance and Counseling Goals

In general, the goal of the ECT Guidance and Counseling Office is the total and integrated human growth and development of each student. It offers a school wide assistance that will enable the student to understand and accept themselves and to make use of their potentials and capabilities as leaders in the Church and in the society.

Specifically, it aims:

1.) To enable students to acquire information relevant to academic, career, emotional, personal and psycho-social development.

2.) To assist students to accept and understand themselves better, correct their shortcomings, take advantage of their special abilities, expand their interests to achieve their educational, vocational and personal adjustment and fulfillment.

3.) To help students to arrive in an objective manner at a better understanding of their capabilities, limitations and progress.

4.) To help students understand themselves in light of their abilities, achievement, interest and personality to gain self-direction and develop rational decision-making.

5.) To assist students in identifying the area of interest and improvement that will match their aptitudes.

6.) To share with the faculty and other school personnel necessary data, practices, technique that will assist them to know the student better, improve instructions, enrich curriculum, and gear it to the different interest, needs and abilities of every student.

7.) To help improve the counseling profession in the locality by spearheading seminars or workshops that enhances counseling skills and techniques.

8.) To have a social impact by providing the community adequate information that helps increases their awareness.

  • Guidance and Counseling Office Personnel Duties and Responsibilities

1.1 Guidance Counselor

  1. person who has been registered and issued a valid Certificate of Registration and a valid Professional Identification Card by the Professional Regulatory Board of Guidance and Counseling and Professional Regulation Commission in accordance with R.A. No. 9258 and who, by virtue of specialized training, perform for a fee, salary, or other forms of compensation the functions of guidance and counseling under Section 3 (a) of R.A. No. 9258.

As a Guidance Counselor, he/she carries the following principal functions:

The Guidance Counselor is charged with the responsibility of establishing and maintaining an effective guidance program to ensure the normal growth and development of students by providing them formative as well as remedial assistance. Do individual or group counseling sessions to clientele thru call-in, walk-in or referral. Administers, checks, score and interprets batteries of Psychological Tests to students of the college to assess individual and group needs in terms of academic performance and behavior concerns. Use structured norms or construct local norms for validity, reliability and confidentiality. Conduct Psychological Interventions to unresolved cases at the college level among students. Conduct Career Program related activities and Group Guidance activities that caters the needs of the students.

1.2 Guidance Facilitator

Guidance Facilitator, he/she carries the following specific tasks:

The Guidance Facilitator assists in administering, checking and scoring of Psychological Tests. Assists in the conduct of Career Program related activities and Group Guidance activities that caters the needs of the students. Records and files student profile and psychological data of students. Records student’s appointment with the Guidance Counselor.

B. LIBRARY FACILITIES AND SERVICES

The College Library shall be updated every year as recommended by the Librarian. Rules and Regulations of the Library will be given and presented by

the librarian during the students’ orientation and posted in the premises of the Library to serve as reminders.

C. HEALTH FACILITIES AND SERVICES

The College Medical Doctor and Dentist shall schedule their visit at least once a week. In addition, we ask the Center for Holistic Health Care in Harmony

Village to give a special information and formation along the years including the

program called ―School of Nature‖ formation and information services that will

help students to understand the secret of nature, the proper healthy diet, and to

let the students understand more the connection between the style of life, the

food, time, resting habit and other services part of the human health formation and services.

The Emmaus College has enough ground for recreational activities
